Linda Thomas-Mobley

SAN DIEGO — The New School of Architecture and Design named Linda Thomas-Mobley, J.D., Ph.D., to chair the new bachelor’s degree architecture and design program that launches this fall at NSAD. NSAD announced its four-year Bachelor of Science in Construction Management in May and began looking for someone to lead the curriculum.

“The future of construction management depends on well-trained women and men with the total understanding of a project,” said George L. Welch, AIA, the program’s interim chair. “From cost-estimating to contract law and dozens of specialties in-between.”

Thomas-Mobley brings with her an Academic, Engineering, Legal and Military background that would fit the description.

Prior to joining NSAD, Thomas-Mobley was on the faculty of the Georgia Institute of Technology, serving for the past 13 years as associate chair of the building construction program. She is also a civil engineer with research interests in facilities management, indoor environments, and the application of American law to the construction industry. Thomas-Mobley was also construction manager for the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games. She has been a senior attorney in corporate and real estate law, and a lieutenant in the United States Civil Engineers Corp.

“A respected professional and academic leader of Dr. Thomas-Mobley’s stature supports New School’s commitment to help prepare students for professional success,” said NSAD President Dr. Steven Altman. “The fact that she frequently is invited to speak around the world, publishes widely and has led a very strong program enforces these outcomes.”
