LOS ANGELES, Calif.— HMC Architects has been named by Zweig Group as a winner of the 2019 Best Firms to Work for Awards, which honors outstanding workplaces at AEC firms. The award—which has recognized HMC for its ability to inspire its teams to perform at the highest levels—is based on evaluations from its own employees and not an independent party.

HMC Architects works in a variety of sectors, including higher education and PreK-12, with a sustainable approach to design. Founded in 1940, HMC currently has seven offices in the western U.S., including California and Arizona. Based on employee feedback, HMC has created an environment where its people feel valued, can make a difference, and can clearly see where their contribution fits into the overall mission and success of the firm.

“Culture at HMC is something in which we take great pride,” said HMC President and CEO Brian Staton. “Prioritizing people above all else is what makes us successful and better positions us to serve our clients and communities.”

Firms were evaluated comprehensively on firm culture, workplace practices, employee benefits, employee retention rates, professional development and more–from both management and staff perspectives. Awards were given in multiple categories based on firm size and discipline. This is the first year Zweig Group has categorized by firm size.

“Being named as a national Best Firm to Work For is a powerful statement,” said Zweig Group CEO Chad Clinehens. “With recruiting and retention being the number one challenge for AEC firms, this award provides a great platform to promote culture and employee experience, offering these firms a strong competitive advantage.”
