2016 Brick in Architecture Awards Winners Announced

RESTON, Va. — Two school projects — one at Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas and the other at Intermediate School 230Q Annex in Queens, N.Y. — were named as part of the seven 2016 Best in Class Brick in Architecture Awards winners from the Brick Industry Association (BIA). The awards honor the country’s most visionary projects incorporating fired-clay brick in seven categories: Commercial, Educational (Higher Education), Educational (K-12), Healthcare, Municipal/Government, Residential (Multifamily) and Residential (Single Family).

Wichita State to Build Hotel on Innovation Campus

WICHITA, Kan. — The first building to take shape in the mixed-use corner of Wichita State University’s Innovation Campus will be a 123-room Element by Westin Hotel. The 20-acre area, to be named Braeburn Square, will also feature restaurants and shops in addition to lodging. Construction on the hotel is set to begin in spring 2017, with completion scheduled for fall 2018.
