A construction worker was nearly electrocuted Tuesday, August 10, when he tried to start work on a electrical panel before the power was shut down.

In a letter to parents this week, Donna McCormick-Miller, principal of Makefield Elementary School, said the school’s new opening day will be Tuesday, Sept. 7, instead of Sept. 1 due to the ongoing renovation and construction at the school.

School administrators hope to keep Parmenter Elementary School students safe this fall with new bus routes to accommodate road work on Wachusett Street.
