Tandus has created a large-scale patterned floor covering designed specifically for schools and facilities with wide hallways. It is available in 6-foot Powerbond and monolithic tile in 18-inch x 18-inch and 36-inch x 36-inch sizes.
The product is 75 percent solution-dyed and 25 percent yarn-dyed, and is made with a minimum of 31 percent overall recycled content. Available in seven color variations, it is constructed of Stratatec patterned loop.
Mitsubishi Electric HVAC Advanced Products Division recently updated its high-speed Jet Towel hand dryer with a built-in, energy-efficient heater. The product never comes in contact with hands, increasing sanitary conditions, and takes between five and six seconds to dry hands, according to the manufacturer. It is available in a 120V model and installation requires no reinforcement.
Water from the user’s hands is collected in the unit’s drain tank, keeping bathroom floors dry. It will automatically shut off after 30 seconds of use and can be mounted at any level.
Jonti-Craft Inc.’s Read-a-Round series consists of two pieces of furniture — a semi-circle bench and a couch. The double-sided couch includes slots for book storage and six clear tubs that provide additional storage. The semi-circle benches include four clear cubby trays, and can be joined to either or both ends of the couch, or connected together.
All components can be rearranged to create various reading centers. Seat height of the benches and couch is 11 inches, and vinyl cushions are available in blue or red. The couch is 36 inches wide x 79 inches long x 23.5 inches high.

Willoughby Industries Inc. introduces an ADA-compliant solid surface shower base with an integral trench drain. It is designed to help eliminate standing water outside ADA shower bases. The unit features a molded, one-piece design and incorporates a 1-inch-deep drain at the front of the base.
The trench drain is pitched to allow water to drain rather than flow out of the base onto the floor. The product is manufactured with the company’s Aquasurf solid surface.
Taraflex Fitness Tile by Gerflor is designed for use in weight rooms, and cardio-training areas in school and college exercise facilities. Available in eight assorted designs, the tile is 5 mm thick and is resistant to scratches and indentation.
The semi-flexible tile does not require adhesives or welding, but rather features a dovetail joint design that connects the tiles together so they won’t move or shift. They can be separated without tools and installed in another location for expansion, remodeling or relocation.

Vicon Industries Inc. introduces the I-Onyx Series of IP cameras. Powered by ViconNet software, the series consists of three models: the VN-855, a high-resolution model; the VN-855DN, a day/night version; and the VN-855 wide dynamic range model. All three can deliver up to 30 fps across a network.
The series provides color images with a resolution of up to 540 TV lines and uses MPEG-4 compression that enables simultaneous transmission of multi-channel video across the LAN and WAN to recorders and workstations.
