A new collection of activities, Galaxy Dynamic, is being offered by Kompan. The Pulsar, Dorado, Canopus, and Flexus are activities that create dynamic play areas for spinning, surfing, climbing, and rocking. The product is designed for ages 5-12 and, according to the company, provides a complex play environment that challenges minds and bodies.

Landscape Structures introduced the Sky Rail, a challenging piece of play equipment that comes in two forms: an integrated ground-to-deck climber or an independent structure. The Sky Rail gives kids a climbing challenge that builds upper-body strength and coordination. It also offers playground planners a climbing structure that adds visual and aesthetic interest to their playground. As an integrated component, the climber presents a creative and challenging way to move from the ground to a 64-inch or 72-inch deck. Its shape offers a variety of climbing routes.
TreeScape comes with an elevated SkyBridge that’s available with optional underside climbing components; ground-level activities also are included in consideration of children with physical challenges. The unit’s green and brown color scheme was chosen to create a sense of playing within the trees.
The company’s other components, such as WildSlide and Log Roll, can be integrated with the TreeScape system. Those items feature direct-bolt connections and durable galvanized steel with five-inch uprights.

The Conical Climber provides a challenging rock climbing experience, and can be used with the PlayBooster and PlayShaper systems from Landscape Structures.
The reinforced PVC belt material used on the climbers is mounted to a tubular steel frame that is anchored to the ground. The movement of the flexible material within the frame provides an added challenge to climbers as they make their way to the top.
CSSI, a manufacturer of resilient surfacing products, introduces PlayGuard ULTRA, which incorporates polymeric wear surface construction into its two-foot-square standard tile line.
The tiles feature a firm surface suitable for wheelchairs and mobility aides, meeting or exceeding all ADA requirements. The company also says the tiles comply with the guidelines established by the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission and the American Society for Testing and Materials.
The FieldTurf system employs a shock-absorbing rubber/sand infill surrounding each blade of smooth synthetic grass. The special infill gives FieldTurf the same torque release as natural grass and allows cleated shoes to easily penetrate, rotate and release, minimizing the chance for motion related injury, according to the company. Maintenance fees are a fraction of the upkeep costs required to sustain a grass field.
The unique construction also allows athletes to slide on the surface, eliminating the incidence of “turf toe,” a common ailment on carpeted surfaces.
FieldTurf does not depend on an underlying shock pad for resilience and player comfort. Instead, the grass fibers are surrounded and stabilized by the company’s patented mixture of smooth rounded silica sand and rubber granules. Tire rubber is cryogenically frozen, shattered into smooth, clean, rounded particles and sized and shaped to stay “in suspension” with the silica sand. The sand and rubber are precision layered for uniformity.
Sport Court surfaces are designed to offer safe, suspended systems that ease the shock on joints, the company says. The flooring surfaces and multipurpose gyms are versatile enough to switch from volleyball to basketball to non-athletic uses, such as meetings.
