Marion County Schools Seek to Improve Efficiency

FAIRMONT, W.Va.-Marion County school administrators are working with Johnson Controls to improve the operational efficiency of 20 facilities in the district. Under the 10-year, $3.8 million performance contract, the district will save $4 million in energy and operational costs.

Johnson Controls will renovate HVAC systems and improve lighting and restroom equipment at some schools. The company will also install the Metasys building management system and replace the HVAC piping at North Marion High School. A School Building Authority grant will fund the HVAC project.

According to a statement by school superintendent James Phares, Ph.D, these facility improvements are expected to increase student achievement by providing a more comfortable learning environment.

Marion County Schools chose Johnson Controls for the project because the company has a strong record of good service and has worked with the district since the early 1900s.
