Are You High Performance?
“High-Performance School” was the term du jour of the educational and green building industries in 2007 and the concept is continuing to take hold in 2008, especially following the CEFPI Annual High-Performance Symposium that was held just a few days ago in Scottsdale, Ariz.
The two-day event featured a variety of workshops and speeches on schools that are designed to have a minimal impact on the environment, while benefiting the students they serve with campuses that foster an enhanced educational setting.
If you didn’t make to the show, you can find more information on high-performance schools and sustainable design in this e-zine and in the latest issue of School Construction News (sign up HERE if you are not already receiving a subscription).
Be sure to read about San Francisco Waldorf School, a new private high school that is on track to receive LEED gold certification that opened last fall at the site of a former directory-assistance call center. Also, be sure to read an exclusive Q&A roundtable with three educational design experts that provide a glimpse of upcoming trends in K-12 classroom design.
