KI Unveils Online Spec Tool
GREEN BAY, Wis. — KI, a manufacturer of furniture and moveable wall systems for educational facilities, recently released SpecEngine, a new online specification tool designed to make the planning and installation of the company’s patented Genius architectural walls easier.
SpecEngine works by generating drawings, pricing and materials listings in real time, reducing lead times and improving product accuracy. The tool doesn’t require software or licensing fees to run, and the password-protected site allows users to store and retrieve an unlimited number of assets, including product inventories and documentation.
Designers and architects can input design specifications into SpecEngine to see three-dimensional renderings of their wall projects. The program can also generate two-dimensional CAD drawings, a bill of materials and pricing information.
“Architectural walls are continuing to grow in popularity in part because of their ease of installation, environmental advantages and flexibility,” says Rob Wittl, general manager of KI’s architectural wall division. “KI created SpecEngine to further simplify the design and installation process for architects and designers, giving them more options for customization and the ability to visualize their ideas instantly.”
