The Liberals didn’t get too far yesterday in trying to pry information out of government on plans for new school construction.

More than $64 million in construction work will begin next month on three Detroit public schools, marking the kickoff of the $500.5 million Proposal S bond program.

While additional parking spaces at Central High School aren’t a sure thing, the construction that’s already happening there certainly is.

It had a humble beginning.

Construction of the career/technical unit building 700 at Liberty Ranch High School is in full swing. Thanks to a thaw in frozen new school construction funds from the state, the district will now be able to pay off a $2 million bridge loan taken in December 2009 to finish the building.
