The Syracuse School Board is meeting tonight to discuss designs for the schools involved in the first phase of the city’s construction project.

In a letter to parents this week, Donna McCormick-Miller, principal of Makefield Elementary School, said the schools new opening day will be Tuesday, Sept. 7, instead of Sept. 1 due to the ongoing renovation and construction at the school.

Shower System
The Eco-Performance shower system from Moen Inc. Commercial Division offers a 36 percent water savings over standard models, according to company. Moen has created five models with varying configurations, including wall-mount or handheld showerheads. Each unit provides a flow rate of 1.6 gallons per minute, compared to the current industry standard of 2.5 gallons per minute.
Construction going well
The St. James Board of Education was given an Elementary School construction update during its regular August meeting held last week. As it stands, the projects seem to be progressing nicely.
