UC Irvine Launches Online LEED Construction Course

IRVINE, Calif. — The University of California, Irvine Extension is launching a new online course designed to attract design/construction professionals interested in LEED construction management.

The course, “LEED Construction Management,” was created to equip participants with an understanding of concepts related to sustainable construction and the documentation and submittal requirement for LEED compliance, according to university officials.

“The LEED Construction Management course will provide students with the ability to explain the concept of sustainable construction and its important, and regulations required for businesses in this area,” says Melanie Mitchell, assistant director of business, management and legal programs at UC Irvine Extension. “Topics covered will include the LEED Building rating system, pre-construction feasibility reviews, LEED contract language and green building certification processes.

“By the end of the course, participants will receive a portfolio of documents to reference when submitting for LEED construction credits in the field,” Mitchell said.
