Ronald H. Fanning

Ronald H. Fanning, AIA, PE, CEFP, NCEE was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the World Congress on Educational Environments, in honor of his contributions to the educational facility planning industry. For more than 50 years, Fanning, chairman emeritus of Fanning Howey, has provided national leadership in the effort to bring visibility to the condition of America’s school buildings, advocating the modernization of school facilities to support 21st century educational programs. During his career, he has been involved in the planning and design of more than 1,000 new and renovated K-12 schools. President of the CEFPI Board of Directors in 2003, Fanning has maintained a lifetime commitment to the organization, serving as a colleague and mentor to many. Additionally, Fanning developed, wrote and taught a course on the educational facility architectural design process for San Diego State University’s advance certificate program in educational facility planning.
