Net-Zero UI Urbana Campus Aims for Top Sustainability Ratings
URBANA, Ill. — The University of Illinois will soon add a $95 million, net-zero engineering facility to its Urbana campus. The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Building, which will serve an estimated 2,500 students upon completion, has been under construction since January 2012 and aims to welcome students in August 2014.


Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer of California has been presented with the Security Industry Association award for 2013 Legislator of the Year. The organization recognized Boxer’s “tireless dedication to school safety” and presented the veteran lawmaker with the award in a ceremony on Capitol Hill. Boxer has worked hard to enact the School Safety Enhancements Act of 2013, which provides funding for the Department of Justice Secure Our Schools grants program.
