MDC’s Academic Support Center Touts Student-Driven Design
MIAMI — The new Academic Support Center at Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Kendall Campus received LEED Gold certification last fall after opening for use in January 2013.
DePaul Building Wins Construction Award
CHICAGO — The Chicago Building Congress (CBC) and Construction Owners Association of America (COAA) International recently recognized the DePaul University Theatre School in Chicago, Ill. 2014 with a CBC/COAA Owners’ Choice Award.
Construction on New Texas High School to Begin
ALTON, Texas — Construction on a new Mission Collegiate High School (MCHS) campus in Alton, Texas is expected to begin July 1. If construction goes as planned, the new school building will be completed next summer in time for students to move in for the 2015-2016 school year.
N.J. School, Architect Collaborate on STEM Center
ENGLEWOOD, N.J. — Dwight-Englewood School officials broke ground June 3 on the new Hajjar STEM Center building. The $20 million facility is key component of the school’s master plan, and will integrate its Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) curriculum.
Eddy Rojas
The University of Dayton has named Eddy Rojas as its new engineering school dean. Rojas currently serves as director of the Charles W. Durham School of Architectural Engineering and Construction at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and will begin the new role on July 1. As dean, Rojas will oversee the university’s 2,600 engineering students. Rojas has experience in administration, teaching and research, and has also overseen strategic plan development and other initiatives.
