George Mason University to Construct Health Sciences Building
FAIRFAX, Va. — George Mason University broke ground earlier this summer on a new $73 million health sciences building to debut in 2017. The 160,000-square-foot Academic VII/Research III building is part of George Mason University’s ongoing strategic plan, which includes renovating several academic buildings.
UConn Makes Progress on Master Plan
STORRS, Conn. — Several construction projects are underway this year as part of the University of Connecticut’s (UConn) strategic Master Plan. UCONN 2000, 21st Century UConn and the new 10-year, $1.5 billion initiative, Next Generation Connecticut, are all helping transform the state’s flagship public university. District Dedicates New Hamilton Elementary School
MOLINE, Ill. — A ribbon cutting marking the official opening of the new Hamilton Elementary School in Moline coincided with the school’s first day of classes on Aug. 18. As the Moline-Coal Valley School District’s first new school in the city in five decades, Hamilton nearly quadruples the size of its 100-year-old predecessor and will house up to 600 K-5 students, according to a statement by the district.
Guy Mehula
Guy Mehula was recently named president of Vanir Construction Management Inc. Mehula brings more than 35 years of experience in the construction industry. He previously headed up the global buildings division at Parsons and later was named president of the company’s Middle East Africa unit. Before that, he was chief facilities executive at the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) where he led the second largest school construction program in the nation.
