THE DALLES, Ore.—Providing project management, cost management, and scheduling analysis, PlanB Consultancy, a Cumming Group company, and international project construction consultancy, has completed the major expansion over at Columbia Gorge Community College.

The brand-new Columbia Gorge Regional Skills Center and Chinook Residence Hall have both been completed in time for fall classes and represent the college’s largest expansion since 2008.

The Columbia Gorge Regional Skills Center will allow the college to offer new career and technical training programs, including Construction Technologies and Advanced Manufacturing & Metals Fabrication. Contingent upon approval from the Federal Aviation Administration, the College will also start offering a third new program, Aviation Maintenance Technician training, in January 2022.

“After working with the dedicated and extremely knowledgeable Columbia Gorge Community College and project team for over two years on the building’s budget and schedule matters, we are very excited to see these buildings completed and ready for students,” stated Gerry Mulrooney, managing director at PlanB.  “The addition of the manufacturing training facility is a wonderful addition not only to the College but offers the local community a new program and a path to excellent career opportunities.”

The second of the two newly completed buildings, the Chinook Residence Hall, features 12 student units as well as two studio apartments for resident managers to help address the going housing needs. Each individual student unit features four beds, a shared study, a communal bathroom, and a large kitchenette area. The Chinook Residence Hall also features a well-equipped common kitchen, a spacious student lounge, and laundry facilities throughout.

Design on the project was led by Opsis Architecture, and Bremik Construction served as the general contractor. Details are available on the college website, www.cgcc.edu.
