Hawaii School to Build Innovative DREAMS Facility

WAIHAPU, Hawaii — The Hawaii Department of Education and Waihapu Intermediate School have partnered with Santa Monica, Calif.-based DLR Group to design a facility that will house the school’s new DREAMS Program. The Digital media, Robotics, Engineering/Electronics, Animation, Music and Science (DREAMS) facility will serve the school’s 1,200 seventh and eighth grade students, and allow the school to provide 21st century learning opportunities in a collaborative, student-led environment.

Joplin High School Project Nears Completion

JOPLIN, Mo. — Construction on Joplin High School and the Franklin Technology Center is about 55 to 65 percent complete, Mike Johnson, facilities director, told Four States Home Page. Kansas City, Mo.-based DLR Group and locally based Corner Greer and Associates rebuilding both on the same campus to replace those that were struck by the May 2011 tornado that devastated the Joplin community and killed 161 people.

DLR to Modernize $150 Million High School

LOS ANGELES — Design firm DLR Group won a conceptual design competition with a unanimous vote by the judges to modernize Beverly Hills High School at an estimated cost of $150 million.

The firm beat out three other finalists for the contract to design the iconic high school, a part of the Beverly Hills Unified School District. The design team included architects from DLR’s Los Angeles, Seattle and Orlando offices.
