SRS Energy introduces the Solé Power tile, a solar energy roofing tile for commercial projects. The building-integrated photovoltaic roofing tile generates electricity using thin-film solar technology. Tiles are barrel-style and designed for curved roofing systems. They are 37.4 inches wide and 18 inches long, resulting in 30 tiles per 100 square feet, with a 3-inch lap. Each 100-square-foot section of tile weighs 240 pounds and generates 500 watts. The RhinoBond system from OMG helps evenly distribute wind load across rooftops to virtually eliminate rooftop fluttering that occurs with TPO and PVC membranes. The system has achieved an FM 1-210 wind uplift rating, and in static testing it resisted more than 500 pounds of force. RhinoBond plates are available for TPO and PVC membranes, packaged in pails of 500. They can be installed using several different OMG fasteners.

Carlisle SynTec introduces the 5-foot- wide FleeceBack EPDM membrane, a single-ply roof system that is ideal for tall buildings where rooftop access is limited. The 5-foot x 40-feet membrane weighs less than 100 pounds and fits easily inside most service elevators. It is puncture and tear resistant, and utilizes hot melt adhesive technology to provide bond strength between the fleece backing and the membrane.

Insulated curbs allow for installation on standing seam roof systems and can accommodate roof slopes for rooftop equipment. Featuring an oversized, flat, pre-punched base flange, the product can be cut to allow water-tight alignment with roof seams.
Standard construction consists of an 18-gauge steel alloy formed in water diverter with mitered and welded corners, and loose cell caps to match most seam configurations.
Met-Tile Inc. has released its new “cool roof” line, which combines weather protection with energy efficiency.
Combining the look of tile with the functionality of metal, the product line uses an architectural coating system that provides solar reflectivity, allowing roof surfaces to stay cooler longer. Due to the product’s cooling properties, roofing surfaces should be less subject to chemical and atmospheric degradation, according to the company. The product line carries a 230+ mph wind rating and Class 4 rating for impact resistance.
Met-Tile, Inc. has become an Energy Star partner for its metal tile panel roofing system, which combines the look of tile with the performance of metal. The new cool roof Met-Tile line combines all-weather performance and aesthetics with energy savings.
The updated roofing line features a Super Series 4800 Super Cool architectural coating system in 10 designer colors. Manufactured by Specialty Finishes Company (Fontana, Calif.), these coatings have solar reflectivity values ranging from 26 percent up to 67 percent, meeting and in some cases exceeding Energy Star requirements.
FireShield Roof Restoration System from GAF Materials Corporation is “self-extinguishing” when exposed to fire. FireShield’s patent-pending restorative technology can turn an existing EPDM (and some asphaltic) roof system into a UL Class A rated roof. The roofing systems are CRRC-listed and highly reflective.
The product is a complete SeamFree membrane system based on Topcoat technology and can be used on most slopes and on virtually any deck type. FireShield comes with GAF’s Emerald Pledge NDL Restoration Warranty that provides protection against material defects for 10 years.
