LEED Calculator

Building product manufacturer Georgia-Pacific Gypsum released an online LEED Calculator that is designed to help architects, contractors and suppliers determine the potential contribution of GP products toward LEED credits.
 
The calculator provides access to LEED data after construction professionals type in the project name, zip code and their Georgia-Pacific Gypsum product choices. The calculator provides a report and printable letter outlining the relevant LEED credit documentation.

Solar Tiles

SRS Energy introduces the Solé Power tile, a solar energy roofing tile for commercial projects. The building-integrated photovoltaic roofing tile generates electricity using thin-film solar technology. Tiles are barrel-style and designed for curved roofing systems. They are 37.4 inches wide and 18 inches long, resulting in 30 tiles per 100 square feet, with a 3-inch lap. Each 100-square-foot section of tile weighs 240 pounds and generates 500 watts. Products are backed by a full warranty.

Rooftop Wind Resistance

The RhinoBond system from OMG helps evenly distribute wind load across rooftops to virtually eliminate rooftop fluttering that occurs with TPO and PVC membranes. The system has achieved an FM 1-210 wind uplift rating, and in static testing it resisted more than 500 pounds of force. RhinoBond plates are available for TPO and PVC membranes, packaged in pails of 500. They can be installed using several different OMG fasteners.

Independent testing has verified the membrane adhesive’s ability to meet Class A ASTM E108 fire test at a 3:12 slope.
