Carpets Earn Sustainability Award

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.-Long-lasting nylon carpet installations at two educational facilities received merit awards for performance at the recent Antron 2003 Design Award ceremonies.

The Sustainable Flooring Performance Award recognizes carpet lasting 10 or more years. Given to designers and carpet manufacturers using DuPont Antron fibers, the merit awards went to Lees Carpets and Bentley Prince Street.

A 1972 installation at Passmore Elementary School for the Northside Independent School District earned the award in San Antonio, Texas. The installation used Lees Carpets? Faculty II product, which includes a multi-level loop to mask soiling and staining throughout the school, the company says.

Bentley Prince Street received the award for a 1985 remodel of the Segundo Hall Dining Commons at the University of California at Davis. Two colors of the company?s King?s Road brand and one custom style were used for the installation.
