Acme Portable Machines Inc. has released a rugged portable computer that is about the size of large briefcase. The FLP-200 features an Intel T2500 2GHz core duo processor that is backed by a minimum of 512 MB of memory, which can be expanded to 2 GB.
It allows users the benefits of a desktop computer in the field. The computer is ideal for testing and data logging in construction, trucking and other environments, according to the company. Users can customize their system for a specific application without adding an expansion chassis or using a bulky case. Dual lithium ion batteries provide 100 watts of output power and 190 watt-hours of capacity, roughly three times the capacity of a conventional notebook, according to the company.
