Arsco Completes Sound Insulation Project

CINCINNATI — Arsco, a manufacturer of cabinetry and climate control systems, installed $125,000 in ventilation units and bookcases at a local elementary school to improve acoustics, energy efficiency and ventilation.

Our Lady of Victory Elementary School, located near Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky Airport , was struggling with outside noise levels, poor airflow and rising energy costs. To reduce noise pollution and energy use, school officials launched a $2.1 million, fast-tracked sound insulation program, which focused on several areas of the school, including the three-story library and science building.

Working under a six-week deadline, Arsco custom-engineered 157 open-shelving bookcases for 24 rooms. Units were constructed of mild steel with louvers, laminate tops and fillers for a wall-to-wall fit. Each unit was powder-coated for scratch and fade resistance.

Ventilation units helped abate noise from low-flying aircraft and streamline energy use by drawing ambient air from the windows for direct return to the unit ventilators.
