DLR Group, a full-service design firm that focuses on education, justice, corporate and sports facilities, promoted several employees to principal. Karl Derrah, AIA, of the Phoenix office, has been the lead designer on several education projects; Jeff Fenimore is a leader in the firm’s Minneapolis-based higher education practice and a member of the firm’s national Higher Education Forum; Kevin Greischar is the K-12 market sector leader in the Kansas City region; and Tom Mitchell, business development leader, has been with the company for six years and coordinates with K-12, higher education and justice markets.


Healy, Bender & Associates Inc., an architecture, engineering and planning services firm in Naperville, Ill., that specializes in K-12 facilities, promoted Dave Patton from project manager to principal. He has been with the firm for 14 years and will continue as director of production.


Randy Gibson, SE, PE, was appointed president of Chicago-based architecture firm PSA-Dewberry. He previously served as Midwest regional manager and has been with the firm for more than 20 years. His experience includes design, project management and office management.

Catherine DeWitt, director of marketing for JDavis Architects, an architecture, landscape architecture and interior design firm based in Raleigh, N.C., achieved the designation of certified professional services marketer from the Society for Professional Services Marketing. She has more than eight years of marketing experience in the architectural, engineering and construction industries and oversees the marketing department. In addition, the firm hired Laura Ewan as marketing coordinator. Michael P. Hanson joined the firm as a project manager. He will be responsible for the design, layout, documentation and coordination of multiple projects from the new Philadelphia studio.


Portland, Ore.-based architecture, interior design and planning firm Hennebery Eddy Architects Inc. hired three new staff members who will focus on education projects. Steve Eggleston has more than 13 years of experience with project design and joined the firm as project architect. Steven Sandstrom and Kathy Aulwes were hired as project designers. With more than 10 years of experience, Sandstrom will focus on education and renovation projects in Oregon . Aulwes has more than 11 years of experience in education, institutional, restoration and commercial design.


Suffolk Construction Co. Inc., a general building contractor located in Irvine, Calif., announced several personnel changes. The company appointed Dave Cavecche general manager of its West Coast division. He has more than 20 years of commercial construction experience, including 10 years with Swinerton Builders. Jake Jones, Sam Laham and Ali Fadavi were appointed operations managers.

Cannon Design, an architecture, planning and design firm specializing in education, healthcare and government facilities, appointed Craig Booth, AIA, LEED AP, associate principal at the company’s Los Angeles office. He has more than 22 years of design experience. In addition, Raymon Soto, LC, joined the company’s Buffalo, N.Y., office as the lighting design specialist. He has more than 30 years of experience as an electrical designer.


HRG, a consulting firm headquartered in Harrisburg, Pa., that provides engineering, surveying and construction administration services, promoted Doug Weikel, P.E., to manage the operations of its civil service group. He formerly served as the regional manager of the civil service group in the State College, Pa., office and was named an associate of the firm in 2002. He has experience with municipal planning, construction management, contract administration, storm water design and site design.

Tilt-Con Corporation of Orlando, Fla., a supplier of tilt-up concrete construction, appointed Carla Getz estimator and Chris Paren assistant project engineer.


Patrick Murphy joined New York-based Sabre Integrated Security Systems, a security systems facilitator that provides site surveys, risk analysis, specification, design, installation, training and ongoing preventive maintenance. Prior to joining the company, he was an area manager with CitiGroup’s security investigative services division.


Sodexho, a provider of integrated food and facilities management services headquartered in Gaithersburg, Md., appointed James Taylor president of the company’s U.S. Senior Services Division. He has been with the company for six years and has more than 24 years of food service industry experience.


Halco Lighting Technologies, a manufacturer of lamps and ballasts designed for commercial and residential applications, appointed Ernest L. Johnson product manager. In his new position, he will be responsible for planning, organizing and controlling the halogen lamp product lines from conceptual stages through product life cycles.


UltraViolet Devices Inc., a manufacturer and supplier of UV and molecular filtration products headquartered in Valencia, Calif., promoted Martin G. Albert to national sales manager for distribution. With more than 20 years of experience in business development and management, he will be responsible for the regional sales team and developing channel partner plans.


Steven Roofing Systems, a supplier of commercial roofing membranes headquartered in Holyoke, Mass., appointed Peter Kesser vice president of sales and marketing. With more than 20 years of management experience, he will be responsible for overseeing all domestic sales and marketing activities, including management of the company’s direct and indirect sales force.









Alexson

Unger Enterprises Inc., a manufacturer and supplier of professional cleaning tools, hired Brian Alexson as vice president of sales. In his new position, he will be responsible for the company’s inside and channel sales departments and customer service. Prior to joining the company, he worked for Service Master for 17 years.


Associations/Announcements


The University of Notre Dame named Andrés Duany and Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk, the founders of Miami-based architectural and urban planning firm Duany Plater-Zyberk & Company, the 2008 Richard H. Driehaus Prize Laureates. The Driehaus Prize is awarded annually to an outstanding architect or firm whose work applies the principles of classicism and the impact on the built and natural environment in contemporary contexts. The firm has worked on several college and university projects.


The Council of Educational Facilities Planners, International, Board of Directors hired John K. Ramsey, CAE, as the council’s new executive director. He has almost 20 years of association management experience and was previously the executive director of external affairs and business development for the National Center for State Courts in Williamsburg, Va.
