Siemens Lowers Costs With Energy Program
MONTEREY, Calif. — Siemens Building Technologies Inc. is implementing several facility improvements at Monterey Peninsula College that are expected to save the school more than $2.4 million in annual energy costs.
Part of a campuswide facility overhaul, the improvements are designed to lower operating costs and reduce energy consumption during the 10-year length of the contract, as well as increase student and faculty comfort in classroom.
Improvements include new building automation systems and controls, HVAC mechanical upgrades, interior/exterior lighting upgrades, IT network management software and vending machine controls.
College officials say the integration of campus systems and high performance technology will offer better control of the facility environment, resulting in a significant reduction in energy use and environmental emissions.
