Lord, Aeck and Sargent promoted Ken Higa, AIA, LEED AP, MBA, and Jim Nicolow, AIA, LEED AP, to principal of the education studio. Christine M. Ray, RA, was promoted to associate of the education studio.


Mortenson Construction promoted Tom Gunkel from chief operating officer and president to chief executive officer and president. He has more than 25 years of experience and will lead the senior management team.


Lee Jarboe is the new business development director for the Atlanta office of McCarthy Building Companies Inc. She is a Certified Professional Services Marketer and was recently the president of the Society for Marketing Professional Services Georgia chapter.


Andy Lambert joined Robert A. Bothman Inc. as the business development and marketing manager. He will concentrate on building the company’s reputation with design/build athletic and sports facilities.


Stanford Richardson joined the Kwame Building Group team as project engineer. His primary focus is on preparing historical cost data for projects. He is working on a master’s degree at Webster University and is a member of the National Society of Black Engineers.


The Milwaukee office of architecture and engineering firm HGA promoted Mark Debrauske, Kevin Kerschbaum and Matthew G. Mikolainis to associate vice president.


Architecture firm Leo A Daly made several personnel announcements: Ricardo J. Fernandez was named vice president and director of design at the Miami office; Patrice Sowers, AIA, was appointed managing principal at the firm’s Las Vegas office; Richard Candia was appointed director of business development at the Miami office; Duke Vair was named vice president and corporate director of human resources; and Peter Nimmer, RA, LEED AP, was appointed vice president and director of operations.

Tetra Tech, an architectural and engineering firm, hired Peter P. Spinella, AIA, as director of the Delaware office. He has more than 30 years of experience as a project manager. The firm also promoted Robert Maffia, AIA, to Mid-Atlantic regional manager. He will lead strategic efforts to develop client relationships, improve project procedures, enhance quality control and grow the firm’s Delaware, New Jersey and New York City markets.


Rosenbaum Design Group announced four promotions. Dennis J. Flynn, AIA, and Kevin M. O’Sullivan, AIA, were named partners. Flynn has been with the firm since 1994 and O’Sullivan has been with the firm since 1995. Kenneth J. Nicastro, AIA, was named senior associate after being with the firm since 1998 and Susan B. Sassoon, AIA, was named associate after being with the firm since 2006.

Jonathan P. Rollins, AIA, was promoted to principal after 14 years with architectural firm Good Fulton and Farrell. His portfolio includes work on Southern Methodist University’s Centennial Master Plan and Perkins School of Theology.


Craig John and Nathan Burt of KKE Architects Inc. passed the nine divisions of the architect registration exam.


Jeffrey Lubenko and Kathy Witherow were named principals at Anova Architects Inc., an architectural firm with offices in Northern California that specializes in educational, healthcare and civic projects. Witherow joined the firm in 1996 and Lubenko joined the firm in 2004.


Swanke Hayden Connell Architects, a firm that provides services in architecture, interior design, master planning, strategic facilities planning and historic preservation, named Tomas Alvarez, AIA, LEED AP, principal of the New York-based office. He has more than 20 years of experience designing institutional, commercial and corporate facilities.


Baker Barrios Architects Inc. promoted Davide Salley to CAD manager. Salley works at the firm’s corporate headquarters in Orlando, Fla., and has been with Baker Barrios since 2005.


David Gregory, Bill Butler and Michael Braun joined Walton Construction, a St. Louis-based provider of pre-construction, general contracting, design-build and construction management services, as superintendents. Their responsibilities include supervising field operations, supporting and training other superintendents and managing project budgets, schedules, safety and quality. Braun has more than 22 years of experience. Butler has more than 19 years and Gregory has more than 15 years of experience in the construction industry. In addition, Michele Ribble joined the company as a project administrative assistant.


Jackie Bieghler, AIA, joined the Indianapolis office of design firm BSA LifeStructures, as a project manager. He has worked on several projects including University High School, New Albany High School and Christel House Academy.


Mulkey Engineers Consultants, an engineering and consulting firm based in based in Raleigh, N.C., promoted Jill Wells Heath to chief executive officer after serving the firm since its inception in 1993.


Robert Roby is the new director of organizational development for Saunders Construction Inc. in Colorado. He has more than 20 years of experience and will spearhead the recruiting and retention efforts for the company.


Reynolds Construction Management, based in Harrisburg, Pa., made several staffing changes. Damion Spahr was promoted to regional manager of the King of Prussia office. He has been with the company for 14 years. Steven McNulty was promoted from project manager to senior project manager. He has 17 years of industry experience. John Reichart rejoined the company as a project manager. Lee Labbauf was hired to oversee the Hopewell Intermediate School project as a project manager. Dave Stezin is an on-site construction manager for the company and is responsible for overseeing daily project operations. Jennifer Cheung is now a part-time business development manger for the company and is responsible for sales and marketing in the Philadelphia area.


Aschinger Electric Co. will continue to be a family-run business as former president Eric Aschinger takes the role of chairman, his daughter Emily Aschinger Martin takes the role of president and Scott Aschinger, Martin’s cousin, takes the role of vice president of operations. The new line of leadership is the fourth generation to run the family’s business, which was founded in 1940.


MANUFACTURERS


Knife River Corporation, a construction materials manufacturer, named Rich Allison president of the company’s mountain region. He served as vice president and then as interim president for the region before being promoted.


California Expanded Metal Products Co. appointed Don Pilz product manager for the company’s water management product line. He will continue to manage production of the line and assist contractors and architects in proper product selection.


U.S. Products, a manufacturer of carpet and hard-surface flooring and cleaning equipment restoration, hired two employees. Stephen Romero will serve as the company’s auto industry account executive and head the new division for the automotive product line. Brian Consolino is the new Eastern regional sales manager.


Peter Wagner, the new director of marketing and sales support at L&M Construction Chemicals Inc., a concrete product supplier, will work to promote color applications and sustainability education. He will also assist in the education and training of the company’s North American Certified Applicator Network.


Norman S. Alger was hired as the Southeast regional sales manager for Applegate Holdings LLC, a cellulose insulation manufacturer. Alger has 25 years of experience with the company and was previously a sales trainer at United Subcontractors Inc.


After serving Wildeck Inc. for 29 years, President Ralph H. Laird will retire and assume the role of chairman to the board. Keith G. Pignolet will replace Laird as president. Pignolet is expected to introduce new products and continue market growth.


John Aykroyd was promoted to vice president of business development at Sloan Valve Company, of Franklin Park, Ill. He previously served as national sales manager for the company. Bill Madison was appointed to that position after previously serving as Northeast regional sales manager. In his new position, Madison will manage and direct regional sales managers and the national repair parts manager.

PPG Industries, a manufacturer of coating and building products based in Pittsburgh, Pa., promoted Howard Wright to manager after serving the company since 1994. John Shaffer was promoted from zone manager to business director and has been with PPG since 1991.
