SANTA CRUZ, Calif. — The University of California Santa Cruz is developing a state-of-the-art institute described as part museum, part teaching and research facility, and part performance space. The soon to be constructed Institute of the Arts and Sciences will offer exhibits on everything from climate change to contemporary art, and is projected to cost $32-40 million.
TOLEDO, Ohio — Sylvania School District officials awarded construction contracts on Feb. 10 for the new Mel Nusbaum Football Stadium at Southview High School in Toledo. Weather permitting, construction should begin on March 3, with completion scheduled for fall 2014.
Ed Clarke has been named to lead the Maryland Center for School Safety based in Baltimore. Clarke, a former police officer and retired captain, has been involved in school security issues since 2000. He served for six years as school safety and security director of the Montgomery County Public School System, is a school safety consultant and has been active in efforts to increase the number of resource officers in local high schools.
