Various School Projects Continue for Oklahoma School District

Oklahoma’s Ardmore School District has a raft of renovation projects currently underway, including a performing arts center and work on elementary schools within its boundaries.

According to the the Daily Ardmoreite, Fenix Constructors is acting as general contractor for the enhancements. One project underway at the district includes a canopy that will connect various buildings at the Ardmore High School, which is estimated to be completed by the end of the year. Other work includes improvements to the performing arts space’s acoustics. The contractor is also working on improvements to the parking and lighting at the campus’s exterior.

Fenix’s work entails construction on the $5.4 million Jefferson Elementary School from the bottom up as well as the $36.8-million Westheimer Center for the Performing Arts. Both elements of the campus work have already experienced several delays, including issues related to the pandemic and worker safety.

Most of the construction work is projected to be completed by October of next year, the Daily Ardmoreite reported. According to the paper, most of the construction funding comes from a $44 million bond passed in 2018.
