Melissa Shivers

The University of Iowa has named Melissa Shivers the next vice president for student life. Shivers has 20 years of experience serving students and is currently associate vice chancellor for student life and dean of students at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She previously served as the assistant vice chancellor for student life at the University of Tennessee and has held positions at the University of Georgia, Clemson University and Georgia Southern University. Shivers’ educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in communication arts with an emphasis in broadcast journalism from Georgia Southern University, a master’s degree in education from Clemson University, and a Ph.D. in college student affairs administration from the University of Georgia.
