Emergency Panic Buttons Installed for Bus Drivers

DUNCANVILLE, Texas-Teletouch Communications Inc. (AMEX:TLL) announced the signing of the Duncanville Independent School District for its VTraxfleet tracking system, including emergency panic button alert response services.

The company recently began installation of the first group of VTrax units in the DISD’s nearly 90-unit bus and van transport fleet. School district managers and school personnel will have the ability to track monitored district vehicles online, through any available Internet connection. The company also provides a 24/7/365 call center for assistance in locating vehicles.

The tracking system includes a hidden panic alert button for drivers to activate if they or their passengers are in a dangerous or threatening situation. Once an alert is activated, a digital message is sent to Teletouch’s call center for dispatch. Operators can then follow the vehicle’s movements in real time, simultaneously calling 911, emergency response and the appropriate pre-approved school district personnel.

Teletouch provides wireless messaging and related network management, including mobile asset tracking solutions using GPS-based hardware and software products for fleets, hazardous materials and “worker-down” emergency notification applications.
