FSC Calls for Award Submissions

WASHINGTON-The Forest Stewardship Council-US has joined with Forest Product Solutions to create the first Designing & Building With FSC Award, which will be offered annually.

Projects will be judged on their use of wood, inclusion of FSC-certified wood, overall design and appropriate wood use. At least half of the new wood used in the project (by cost) must be FSC-certified, and the project must have been completed no later than 2002. The contest is open to owners, architects, interior designers, general contractors, builders and consultants. Any building type – commercial, institutional, residential or mixed-use – is eligible. Winning projects will be announced at the GreenBuild 2005 Conference and Expo in Atlanta, Nov. 9-11. All submissions will be listed on the “Green Building” page of the FSC-US Web site, and each entering project team will receive two free tickets to the FSC-US GreenBuild 2005 Atlanta reception.

To enter a project, visit the FSC-US Web site at www.fscus.org and click on the Green Building section. All entries must be received by 5:00 p.m. PST on Sept. 16, 2005.
