GE Infrastructure Acquires Edwards Systems Technology

WILTON Conn.-GE Infrastructure, a unit of General Electric Company (NYSE: GE), recently announced it has acquired Edwards Systems Technology, the fire detection systems business of SPX Corporation (NYSE: SPW).

The business will become a part of GE Infrastructure Security’s Engineered Systems business.

Bill Woodburn, president and CEO of GE Infrastructure, said that by combining Edwards’ technology and channel strength with GE’s high-tech security offerings, the company can provide a better integrated facility management solution. He expects the acquisition to be accretive to GE’s 2005 earnings.
