A host of green features and an environmentally focused curriculum are just a couple of reasons why the new Arabia Mountain High School in DeKalb County, Ga., is expected to achieve LEED silver certification when it opens in January 2009.
Using sustainable design elements, such as daylighting in classrooms, low-flow plumbing fixtures and energy-efficient HVAC systems, the school could be the first LEED-certified school in the state. Read about it in our top Green Scene story this month.

Armstrong is CEO of TyraTech, a developer of natural insecticides, and has more than 20 years of experience in the assessment and development of biotechnologies. He has corporate management experience at public and private biotechnology, medical device and developmental research companies, and is a graduate in chemistry from the University of Richmond, Va. Armstrong also holds a Ph.D in pharmacology and toxicology from the Medical College of Virginia, at Virginia Commonwealth University.
