Lynn Cooper, of Sacramento-based architecture and design firm WWCOT, was named president of the Council of Educational Facility Planners, Internatio-nal California /Northern Nevada chapter. The role is a three-year term progressing from the president-elect to president to immediate past president. Cooper also acts as the chairman of the board of directors, of which she was most recently a member.

Steve Nelson, AIA, LEED AP, was named partner at Gilfillan Callahan Architects, of Rolling Meadows, Ill., which specializes in educational and municipal projects. Since joining the firm in 2000, his key roles have included senior project manager and educational sector leader. With a focus on K-12 architecture, he will assist the firm in developing client services and responsibility for environmental issues.
JDavis Architects PLLC, a full-service architecture, landscape architecture and interior design firm, hired Matt Jenkins as a landscape designer at the Raleigh, N.C., office. In his position, he will focus on project management for site design, land planning and landscape design. His prior work experience includes campus planning and design and urban revitalization. In addition, David Gikaru joined the firm as a construction administrator. He will be responsible for monitoring daily on-site and off-site construction activities, as well as overseeing construction performance, budget review, quality assurance and project goals. Catherine Walters joined the firm as a CAD technician. She will be responsible for construction administration duties, including drafting data for client projects.
Sean Collins, LEED AP, was promoted to senior associate of Los Angeles-based HGA Architects and Engineers. As a project manager, he works with higher education and healthcare projects, including new construction projects at colleges throughout Southern California and the management of seismic compliance for several hospital campuses.
San Diego-based Douglas E. Barnhart Inc., a construction management company, appointed Ryan Stichler new director of business development. With more than seven years of marketing experience, he will direct and manage the company’s marketing department. He previously held marketing and business development positions at NTDStichler and the Stichler Group.
Cannon Design, a national architectural, engineering and planning firm, appointed three associate vice presidents. Kelly Hayes McAlonie, MRAIC, LEED AP, has more than 13 years of experience in the planning and design of facilities for primary, secondary and higher education. David A. Johnson, AIA, has served as project designer for a wide range of campus building types, healthcare and government buildings during his 13 years of experience. Joseph A. Robins has more than 19 years of experience in electrical engineering design for educational, healthcare and commercial projects. In addition, Stephen Johnson, AIA, joined the firm as a principal. With 35 years of experience in design leadership and practice management, he will focus on strategic marketing for the higher education practice.
Danielle Waldrop joined the Charlotte office of SFL+a Architects, a firm that provides architectural services to educational facilities, as an interior designer. She will work on the firm’s educational design projects to develop interior designs for school facilities. In addition, Minta Jane Dodd joined the firm as an intern architect. She will focus on the firm’s school and education design projects through 3-D modeling, analyzing construction documents and coordinating project details between internal staff and school system employees.

Trivers Associates
, an architectural design firm, announced the addition of five new employees to its St. Louis office. John Kennedy was hired as a senior architectural designer, Karla Zimmerman was hired as an account manager, Dave Myers joined the firm as an architectural designer II, Aaron Lewis joined as an architectural designer I, and Kai Treier joined as an interior design intern.Integrated Project Services, a full-service engineering, design/build, validation and compliance company, appointed a new leadership team for its New Jersey office. David Brown was named regional office manager and will lead the project services and controls teams. Patrick Boccio, PE, was named director of project management and will lead key account management and project development for the New Jersey area. Aaron Weinstein was named manager of compliance. Mark Butler will continue as general manager of engineering and principal-in-charge.

Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates Inc., an interdisciplinary firm, hired two new senior staff members at its San Francisco office. Alan Dreyfuss is an expert in historical architecture design and focuses on rehabilitation, adaptive reuse and historical preservation. David Green is a building enclosure and curtainwall specialist and has designed curtainwall and cladding systems for several high-profile buildings, including the Millennium Tower in San Francisco and the Museum of Modern Art in New York .
Gilbane Inc., a full-service construction and real estate development company, hired Ronda M. Bailey as regional business development manager for its Philadelphia office. With more than 10 years of experience in marketing and business development, she will oversee sales and business development in the Delaware Valley region and manage the business development department.
Jan Paul Miller, a specialist in industrial certification and education, joined the Construction Management Association of America as vice president, certification, where he will focus on the certified construction manager program. He was previously with Construction Specifications Institute where he was responsible for administering certificate and certification programs for specifiers, architects, engineers and contractor building materials suppliers.
Doug Sitton, president of Sitton Consulting Group in Belleville, Ill., passed the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED Accredited Professional exam. He developed the construction management and management consulting firm in July 2007 after spending almost 30 years in the design and construction industry.
The New York City Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council elected Craig Norsted, AIA, LEED AP, to be the chapter representative for its national Green Schools Campaign. His role will center on providing outreach to municipal and state school boards and presenting green building practices to district governments and local decision makers. Norsted is an architect with New York-based architecture and design firm Perkins Eastman, which focuses on LEED certification guidelines in school design.

KI, a manufacturer of furniture and wall systems for education, healthcare and government markets that is based in Green Bay, Wis., named Shawn Green vice president of product management. He will be responsible for managing the development and growth of the company’s product portfolio. Prior to joining KI, he spent several years at Knoll as the director of storage marketing and product marketing for systems furniture. In addition, CEO Dick Resch was named to the Sales and Marketing Executives International Academy of Achievement Hall of Fame for his contributions to KI.
Kaivac Inc., manufacturers of the No-Touch Cleaning system, headquartered in Hamilton, Ohio, appointed three sales directors to its North American operations. Kevin Mullins has been with the company for more than two years and will cover the Western Region; Mike Perazzo has spent three years with the company and will oversee national accounts; and Tim Wolf has focused on the company’s training programs and will handle the Eastern Region.
Smirnova Marinopoulos
TOA Electronics Inc., a manufacturer of commercial audio and security products, appointed two new associates to its administration department. Lada Smirnova is the new director of finance and administration, and has experience in management, financial analysis, accounting and human resources. Dino Marinopoulos is the new materials manager and is experienced in the areas of supply chain management, inventory control and fulfillment, and logistics.
Schools/Universities
John Koker, dean of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh ‘s College of Letters and Science, received the UW Regents Teaching Excellence Award, which is awarded to two faculty and academic staff members each year. Koker joined the faculty in 1991 and was appointed the dean of the College of Letters and Science in April 2007. In addition, the university appointed Tom Patt as the director of its new Student Recreation and Wellness Center. Pratt served previously as the university recreation and sport facilities director at UW Eau Claire since 2004.
