Brown University Installs Security System
PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Officials at Brown University selected MIR3 to install a Web-based emergency notification system to boost campus safety.
InCampusAlert will provide two-way communication between the school and nearly 20,000 students, faculty, staff and others during critical events.
The program will notify recipients via cell phones, satellite phones, land lines, wireless PDA, text pager and e-mail. The product allows a secure, high-speed notification system to be set up in a short amount of time, without requiring users to purchase or install software, hardware or extra phone lines.
InCampusAlert can be used for message delivery to the entire campus or to specific groups.
Officials believe the notification platform will improve the school’s ability to communicate quickly and effectively with the community during emergency situations.
School officials plan to test the system regularly to ensure that the student body, faculty and other campus officials know what to expect when an alert or notification is issued.
MIR3 is a provider of automated notification systems for universities, hospitals, businesses and government organizations. Through a partnership with Anaheim, Calif.-based Edulink Systems Inc., the company has also developed emergency notification products for the K-12 market.
