BRPH Co. Inc., of Melbourne, Fla., hired Fran Pickett as vice president of its education group. With more than 30 years of experience as a designer, master planner and programmer, she will plan meetings with school board officials and their constituents, coordinate assessments, manage facility design specifications and author planning documents.
Hollis + Miller, an architectural firm with offices in Kansas and Missouri, hired Amy Smith as an interior designer; Jason Bahr, PE, as a structural engineer; Win Gregg as a project engineer; and Kim Moritz as an administrative assistant.
Thomas W. Hughes, AIA, was hired as a principal for the Raleigh, N.C., office of SFL+a Architects. He has 25 years of experience and will focus on client management and special projects with a focus on K-12 projects in North and South Carolina.
Thorburn Associates Inc., an acoustical and audiovisual engineering firm, promoted Derek Meares to associate principal at the company’s Raleigh-Durham, N.C., office. He has more than 20 years of technology design experience and has worked on projects including the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Pharmacy and the UNC-Wilmington School of Education.
Facility Group promoted Ennis Parker to chief executive officer for the Atlanta office of the program management, design and construction firm. She has been with the firm since 2002.
Florida-based Harvard Jolly Inc. promoted Ward Friszolowski, AIA, to executive vice president; Jack Williams, Jr., AIA, to vice president; and Ronald Zajac, AIA, LEED AP, to associate. All three will continue to focus on designing for the education market.

Joseph Lee Coyle, AIA, LEED AP, was named associate principal for Cannon Design’s Baltimore office. He has been in the field for 18 years and has worked on projects in the academic, scientific research and healthcare markets, among others. Ivan Ilyashov, AIA, has more than 26 years of experience and was hired as a principal for the company.
Loebl Schlossman and Hackl, an architectural, planning and interior design firm in Chicago, hired Clare Ardizzone, IIDA, as an interior designer. John Aquilina joined the company as construction administrator and has experience in historic restoration and renovation projects. Elaine El-Aboudi, IIDA, LEED AP, joined the firm as a designer and has more than six years of experience. Amy Brietzke joined the team as an architectural designer.

The St. Louis office of Walton Construction announced the promotion of Tom Kaiman, LEED AP, to vice president of operations; Steven Frisbee to manager of facilities and administration; and Nathan Wever, LEED AP, to assistant project manager. Kaiman will handle personnel issues, contract compliance and oversee financial and safety of current projects. Frisbee will develop policies and procedures related to facility management, fleet management, office equipment and small tools. Wever will assist with contracts, project budgets, scheduling and material procurement.
Jaime Garrido joined McCarthy Building Co., a construction firm based in Arizona, as director of education services. He has experience as dean of administrative services for Chandler-Gilbert Community College, part of the Maricopa County Community College District, and will apply his experience in college safety to expanding the company into the higher education market.

David Shaner was promoted to sales manager for North American Specialty Glass, a safety and security glazing systems manufacturer. Based in the Trumbauersville, Pa., office, he will be responsible for sales and marketing for the D-FenceGlas and VigilGard lines.
McGrady Holen Catlow Kempf
Insulfoam, a manufacturer of block-molded EPS insulation, promoted Pat McGrady to president. He will be responsible for expanding the company’s market share and focus on roofing, below-grade, below-slab insulation markets and geofoam applications. The company also promoted Rich Holen to manger, strategic business development for the Tacoma, Wash., office. He will be responsible for maintaining and expanding the company’s national markets, focusing on roofing and below-grade insulation opportunities. Barbara Catlow was promoted to director of marketing communications for the Dryvit and Triarch product lines, which offer exterior insulation and finishing products. Catlow has about 25 years of experience and will be based in the West Warwich, R.I., office where she will be responsible for marketing communications for both lines and manage the Dryvit technical services department.
Dow Corning Corp., which produces silicone-based products, named Doug Kempf construction application engineering and technical services manager. He will be responsible for managing day-to-day technical activities for the company’s North and South American operations.
Charles Sutton was promoted to director of market development and retail solutions for the Springfield, Mo., office of Digital Monitoring Products, an intrusion, fire and access control product manufacturer. He has more than 30 years of experience in the security and fire control industry. The company also promoted Franco Secades to regional sales manager for Florida. He will be responsible for increasing sales and assisting dealers throughout the state.
Pro-Link, a janitorial supply, marketing and buying company, hired Brian Slack as vice president of sales for the Canton, Mass., office. He will be responsible for overseeing the company’s regional managers, providing end-user training and offering seminar support.
Ecore International, an international manufacturer of cork, rubber and recycled rubber products, promoted Peter N. Saitis to chief financial officer and Robert F. Dougherty to general sales manager. Saitis will direct financial components of the business and oversee the company’s information technology area. Dougherty will expand the company’s network of worldwide sales representatives and distributors.
James T. Ryan will be W.W. Grainger Inc.’s new chief executive officer, replacing Richard L. Keyser who will remain the company’s chairman of the board. Ryan joined the company, which supplies facilities with adhesives, hardware and other products, in 1980 and will retain the title of company president.
Phil Sis was promoted to vice president of engineering and operations for Nilfisk Advance Company’s HydraMaster North America brand, which manufacturers truck-mounted carpet cleaning equipment, and the U.S. Products brand, which manufactures portable hot-water extractors and floor cleaning equipment. He will oversee new product development and manage engineering and operations.
Steven Barrow joined Sutter Roofing, an industrial roofing company based in Sarasota, Fla., as the director of business development.
Vicon Industries Inc., a designer and manufacturer of video surveillance systems, hired Marcus Stair as the territory manager for Northern California and parts of Nevada.

John Blumthal, AIA, was named president of the American Institute of Architects Oregon. Blumthal is a principal for Yost Grube Hall Architecture’s Portland, Ore., office.
Danny Reagan, PE, LEED AP, was selected to be on the Board of Directors for the U.S. Green Building Council’s Piedmont Triad Chapter. He works as a mechanical engineer for Stantec, a design and consulting services company, and will serve a two-year term on the board.
Edward E. Huckaby, FAIA, ACHA, ACHE, was added to the College of Fellows by the American Institute of Architects. He has 33 years of experience and works as a principal and senior project designer at FKP Architects, a full-service architectural and consulting firm, in Houston.
