The Perkins School for the Blind recently celebrated its 100 years in Watertown and recent construction of its new lower school building by burying two time capsules near the foundation of the new structure. On Sept. 16, students, parents, teachers, administrators and members of the school’s board of trustees gathered at the site of the new building to bury the capsules.
OSKALOOSA — The Oskaloosa School Board accepted a bid for the Construction Trades class home at its meeting Tuesday night. The School Board unanimously accepted a bid from Michael and Jennifer Comfort for $165,000.

One person was killed and two others injured in a scaffolding collapse at a middle school construction site in the Stilwell area of Johnson County this afternoon. Emergency crews were called to the scene just before 2 p.m. in the 12500 block of West 175th Street, next to Blue Valley Southwest High School.
