California Budgets Balancing After a Decade of Turmoil
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The California education budget is coming into balance for the first time in years, according to the state’s Legislative Analyst Office (LAO). The LAO is a nonpartisan fiscal and policy advisory agency that gives budget projections to the state legislature and analyzes the fiscal impact of various budget proposals, voter initiatives and policy trends.


Will Hodges, a 23-year industry veteran has been named president for the Candence McShane Construction Company, a general contractor, design-build and construction management services firm. With experience in practical construction services and the real estate industry, Hodges’ responsibilities now include overseeing the strategic growth and comprehensive operations of the company, including estimating, accounting, administration and marketing.
After working alongside company founder David Kalb for almost a decade, Shauna Karuse is now the president and CEO of Capitol Services, a Sacramento, Calif.-based contractor’s consulting corporation. Previously acting as primary assistant for licensing at the firm, Krause’s expertise is often brought to bear on RFP’s involving special districts like school construction projects.
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Class is now in session at Indiana State University’s Scott College of Business. The building opened for the 2012 fall semester after crews completed a renovation of Federal Hall, a 77-year-old federal courthouse and post office building.
LIDO BEACH, N.Y. — Long Beach High School in Lido Beach, N.Y. is currently in the middle of a $16.5 million expansion and renovation project.
