COLUMBIA, Mo. — A new $20 million facility for the University of Missouri’s College of Business is expected to “take education beyond the lecture hall,” according to an article by the Columbia Tribune. The new Applied Learning Center has received $10 million from donors, which was then matched by the state on May 18 during a news conference with Governor Jay Nixon.
Philip Riedel, AIA, CEFP, LEED BD+C, an architect in NAC|Architecture’s Seattle office who specializes in educational planning and design, has been promoted to principal. Riedel is currently managing the replacement and modernization of Wilson High School for Tacoma Public Schools, bond planning for Sumner School District and the construction of Sierra High School, a new Seattle charter school.

PORTLAND, Ore. — The 650,000-square-foot Collaborative Life Sciences Building & Skourtes Tower (CLSB) — which combines the research of Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), Oregon State University and Portland University into one location — recently earned three industry awards for its sustainable design. Los Angeles-based CO Architects and locally based SERA Architects worked together on the design.
MILWAUKEE — Marquette University in Milwaukee will be the final tenant in the city’s Global Water Center, a collaborative water-industry consortium located in Milwaukee’s Walker’s Point neighborhood. The university recently announced that it plans begin building out the center’s last unoccupied floor this summer. Upon completion, Marquette University will join a number of other research facilities, firms and accelerator spaces for emerging water-related companies working to advance water science, conservation and innovation.
