Directors Convene at Collegiate Athletic Summit
TUCSON, Ariz.-Close to 125 people gathered at the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort nestled at the base of the Catalina Mountains for the third annual CraigMichaels’ Collegiate Athletic Facilities Summit, Sept. 20- 21.
Amidst the brush of cottonwood and mesquite, saguaro cactus and prickly pears, for two-and-a-half days, business focused on issues that athletic and recreation directors face.
Sessions included developing an athletic facilities master plan; developing an effective security plan for athletic facilities; design considerations for new and renovated facilities; renovation vs. new construction; how to make the right turf selection; obtaining financing in a down economy; and the case for facility investment. Certain issues were ubiquitous, such as strategies for fund-raising and the percentages for naming rights.
All delegates and attendees held personalized itineraries. As always, CraigMichaels keeps its events small and individualized, with just 11 solution providers for pre-arranged one-on-one meetings.
CraigMichaels posts complete documentation of all executive presentations on a secured site upon return from the summit.
