PSA Merges with Dewberry

FAIRFAX, Va.-The architecture firm of Dewberry announced an agreement of merger terms with Phillips Swager Associates (PSA).

Executives at both firms recently signed a letter of intent. “If all goes smoothly, we hope to have this transaction and integration complete by Jan. 1, 2005,” says John P. Fowler II, Dewberry’s CEO.

Dewberry is based in Fairfax, Va., and has 27 offices in 12 states. PSA is headquartered in Peoria, Ill., where the merged PSA/Dewberry will be based. PSA also currently has offices in Chicago, Naperville, Ill., Dallas, and McLean, Va.

PSA’s past educational projects include a new grades 6-8 school and a new grades K-5 school in Dunlap, Ill.; a $12.9 million expansion of the college of engineering complex at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale; and an addition and remodel of the Cullom-Davis Library at Bradley University in Peoria.

Dewberry has designed numerous higher education projects. Its clients include Oklahoma State University, the University of Oklahoma, and the Virginia Community College System.
