MOUNT VERNON, Iowa-The Tilt-up Concrete Association, a non-profit organization that serves to expand and improve the use of Tilt-up as the preferred construction method, announced the call for entries for the 2006 Tilt-up Achievement Awards Competition.
The deadline for projects for the 2006 awards program is September 30. Further, projects can be resubmitted at any time as long as the project has not won a TCA Achievement Award in a previous competition and it is still deemed a worthy structure for consideration. This was in response to the fact that any given year could have an inordinate amount of competition in a particular category.
The purpose of the awards program is to recognize outstanding site cast tilt-up structures and advances in technology, products and methods used in the tilt-up industry, according to TCA.
“Each year, more than two million readers of industry trade publications discover the award winning projects,” says Jim Baty, technical director of TCA and staff liaison to the awards committee. “This provides a tremendous opportunity for tilt-up professionals to educate the design and construction industry at-large about the high-level of tilt-up projects being constructed today.”
“Every project, no matter when it was completed, should have the chance to be recognized for the significance it holds for the industry in general and also for its specific location. This is why we made the decision to allow any project from any year to compete. Companies should base their entries on the pride they have for the structure and the significant achievements that resulted from their work,” said Baty.
