UNH Awards $40 Million Energy Contract to EMCOR Group Inc.

NORWALK, Conn.-EMCOR Group Inc. (NYSE: EME) has been awarded several long-term energy-related operations, maintenance and consulting contracts from the University of New Hampshire. The contracts, totaling more than $40 million over a 20-year period, build upon a relationship that started in May 2004 for the design and construction of a new cogeneration plant and additional chilled water facilities at the university’s main campus in Durham, N.H. The recently awarded 20-year contracts are in addition to a $27 million project in which EMCOR Group’s Energy & Technologies subsidiary was awarded a contract for the design and construction of a new 7.5 MW central cogeneration facility, which will be capable of expanding to over 22 MW’s and a new 2,400-ton chilled water plant initially supplying 1,200 tons. These facilities provide HVAC, hot and cold water, and electrical power to the university. In addition to boosting the school’s energy independence, the projects are expected to substantially reduce energy costs over the next 20 years.

The new multi-year contracts awarded to EMCOR by UNH include an operations agreement where an on-site EMCOR team will manage UNH’s new combined heat and power plant, the new chilled water plant and its existing central steam plant. EMCOR will also manage contracted services for energy infrastructure, including the maintenance of remote boilers, chiller plants, high-voltage equipment, and street and parking lot lighting.

The company will also provide consultation and construction management services that support energy master planning, as well as modeling and construction management services for energy infrastructure projects.
