High-Security Lockset

The VingCard Persona access control system is intended for use within campus communities. In most cases, existing student and faculty ID cards can be used as keycards with these electronic locks, the company reports.

The VingCard Persona system uses an ID as a keycard that requires a PIN code. If a card is lost or stolen it cannot be used without the PIN code. Cards can be replaced without changing locks or issuing new keys.

The system includes a complete lockset with escutcheons, ANSI Mortise lockcase, standard or recodable LifeSafety cylinder, and an all-metal keypad. VingCard Persona uses TrueTime, a real-time technology the company says reduces problems with out-of-sequence cards. Cards may be issued in advance, and any “no-show” keycards are automatically deactivated/invalidated.

The lockset is battery operated and all electronics and batteries are mounted in the inner escutcheon on the secure side of the door. The Persona is a stand-alone system and requires no wiring from the lock to the system CPU.
