Flagstaff School District to Renovate, Expand Crowded Facilities
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — A $50 million infrastructure expansion and renovation program is under way at K-12 schools in the Flagstaff Unified School District.
The district hired Heery International to provide management services for the program to upgrade infrastructure and facilities at 18 of the district’s K-12 schools.
Expanded and upgraded information technology systems, classrooms and dining facilities, and renovated playing fields and campus recreation areas are a few of the improvements already in progress.
The expansion and upgrade of K-12 facility infrastructure was needed to meet the demands of Flagstaff ‘s population growth and the pressures of overcrowding, officials say.
District voters approved a bond measure in 2006 to fund the expansion and renovation program. In 2000, state authorities embarked on a $1.3 billion spending program to improve K-12 schools across Arizona.
