Ribbon Cutting Held for New Jersey Middle School
JERSEY CITY, N.J. — Local officials attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new $68 million Franklin Williams Middle School.
The 165,810-square-foot middle school features 36 classrooms, an auditorium, art and science labs, gymnasium and administrative wing. Outdoor facilities include athletic fields, basketball courts and an entrance plaza. The outdoor amenities will be open for community use.
The facility was built to alleviate overcrowding and will house more than 900 sixth through eighth grade students.
“The Franklin L. Williams Middle School is a state-of-the-art facility that showcases a new vision for future school construction,” Superintendent Charles Epps Jr. says.
The middle school is the third new building to be built under the New Jersey Schools Development Authority. It was preceded by the Frank R. Conwell School Campus, Elementary School No. 3 and Middle School No. 4.
