DeJong Named as SCN Advisory Board Member


William S. DeJong, CEO of Ohio-based educational facility planning firm DeJong, was named an editorial advisory board member for School Construction News. DeJong formerly served as president and assistant executive director of the Council of Educational Facility Planners, International and is the executive director of the National Community Education Association. Cutler Associates, a design and construction firm headquartered in Massachusetts, announced that Frederic Mulligan, PE, DBIA, who served as president for 25 years, was named chairman and Ernest O’Brien was appointed president. O’Brien joined the company as executive vice president in 2007.


McCarthy Building Companies Inc., a construction company based in Newport Beach, Calif., hired James D. Madrid to serve as director of business development, education services, for its Southern California divisions. Madrid has 25 years of experience and will focus on the company’s business in the K-12 and higher education markets.


Agus Rusli, AIA, LEED AP, joined Perkins+Will as director of design and associate principal. He will lead design efforts in the Dallas and Houston offices. He previously led his own firm, Rusli Associates in Pittsburgh.


International architectural firm Perkins Eastman announced the promotion of Jerry Walleck to principal at the firm’s Chicago office. Omar Calderon (Va.), Christine Albright (N.Y.), Christine Schlendor (N.Y.), David Hutchinson (Conn.) and Lynne Rizk (Conn.) were promoted to associate principal.

Branch & Associates Inc., a Virginia-based general contracting, design-build and construction management firm, promoted Catherine Underwood to vice president of construction management. Underwood joined the company in 2000 and has served as project manager for several educational facility projects.


Tishman Construction Corp., a New York-based construction company, hired Peter Marchetto as president of construction operations. He has more than 25 years of experience in several markets.


Shawmut Design and Construction, a Boston-based construction management firm, promoted Brian Stys to vice president of marketing and business development, a new position at the company. Stys has worked at the company for 16 years.


Projects and Construction Services Inc., a construction management firm based in Cleveland, added Matt A. Ambrose to its construction management staff. Ambrose has more than 19 years of management experience in the construction industry.


Brian A. Kite, AIA, was named corporate and commercial studio leader at the Los Angeles office of architectural firm Harley Ellis Devereaux. Kite has more than 30 years of experience and has worked on a variety of educational facility projects.


MANUFACTURERS


Marc Papillon was named technical services manager for the eastern region at Gerflor, a manufacturer of vinyl resilient floor coverings. Papillon has worked in the flooring industry since 1971 and most recently served as technical manager at Mondo America and Mapei.


Haws Corp., a manufacturer of drinking fountains and emergency equipment for several industries, promoted Margo Mee to product manager. Mee, who is based in the Sparks, Nev., office, has worked for the company for 12 years.


Steve Gille was named education market manager at Wausau Window and Wall Systems, a Wisconsin-based provider of engineered window and curtainwall systems. Gille will work with a variety of educational facilities to provide controlled lighting and other systems.


Keith Gray was named director of technical marketing at Mohawk Group, a Georgia-based manufacturer of commercial carpeting. He will focus on the healthcare and education markets.


High Concrete Group LLC, a manufacturer of architectural facades and a variety of precast structures, named Kevin Iddings general manager of Midwest operations. He will be responsible for profit and loss accountability for the company’s Ohio and Illinois plants.


Sol Inc., a provider of LED lighting based in Florida, announced Susan Schierwagen was named vice president of worldwide sales. She previously worked for Lutron Electronics Co.


ORGANIZATIONS


The U.S. Green Building Council named Christopher Pyke research director. He previously worked for CTG Energetics of Irvine, Calif. Pyke has worked with the USGBC in the past, contributing technical support during the development of LEED v3.
