Michigan-based architectural firm Kingscott Associates announced the promotion of Dan Tryles, AIA, LEED AP, to senior associate and the promotion of Aaron Felske, P.E., LEED AP, to associate. Tryles has been with the firm for more than 11 years and Felske joined the firm more than four years ago.


JCJ Architecture hired Peter G. Bachmann, AIA, to serve as studio director for the firm’s New York office. Bachmann has more than 20 years of experience, with an emphasis on K-12 and higher education projects.


HTL LLC, a provider of architectural testing services in Riviera Beach, Fla., hired Lucas Turner, P.E., to manage the company’s simulated thermal services. Turner has more than 12 years of experience in engineering, product design and project management.


PCS Project and Construction Services Inc., a construction management firm headquartered in Cleveland, hired Alex Belkofer for its construction management staff. Belkofer graduated from Ohio State University in 2009 with a dual degree in architecture and construction systems management.


Varco Pruden Buildings, a provider of metal building systems based in Memphis, Tenn., named Mark Tender national sales manager for its newly launched VP Roof System program. Tender previously served as customer service manager for AEP-SPAN’s eastern region.


Thorburn Associates Inc., a technology engineering and acoustics company, hired Joe Schuch as senior associate for new learning environments. Schuch has nearly two decades of experience in academic learning technology. He is based at the firm’s Raleigh-Durham, N.C., office.

Jeffery A. Lackney 1961-2009


Jeffery A. Lackney, a long-time member of the School Construction News Editorial Advisory Board passed away on Aug. 29, 2009, in Fitchburg, Wis.


Lackney, 48, was born April 17, 1961, in Raleigh, N.C., the son of Robert R. and Barbara A. Lackney. He is survived by his wife, Jill Dittrich Lackney; a son, Nickolas; his parents; and three brothers, Todd, Chris and Matthew. He will be greatly missed by all who know and love him.


Lackney served as senior planning consultant for Fielding Nair and had more than 20 years of experience planning and designing learning environments.

Landscape architectural firm David Miller/Associates Inc. hired Charity L. Burkhart as landscape architectural designer. Burkhart had served as an intern at the firm since 2007.


Khaled Husein joined New York City-based construction management, engineering, architecture and surveying firm HAKS as vice president of the construction management division. Husein was as an executive at URS Corporation for more than 20 years and previously served as deputy general manager at Saudi Binladin Group-RPD.


International full-service engineering, construction and operations group CH2M Hill Ltd. named Howlie Davis to the newly created position of senior vice president and director of government affairs for its Denver-based North American operations division. Based in Washington, D.C., Davis will direct CH2M’s federal, state and local government teams.

Peter de Vos was named chairman and CEO of Tennessee Valley Infrastructure Group, a Tennessee-based company that specializes in wind energy. De Vos previous served for eight years as head of U.S. investment banking for RBC Capital Markets.


Wagner Companies, a manufacturer of handrail fittings and metal products based in Wisconsin, appointed Anthony R. Goodings to the newly created position of director of sales. Goodings has 22 years of sales and account experience and previously worked for Herman Miller Inc., McGraw-Hill Construction, Johnson Controls and Olon Industries.


Operations


John Wesley Lowery joined the law and consulting firm National Center for Higher Education Risk Management Ltd. as an affiliate consultant. Lowery has several years of experience in legal and safety issues at educational facilities.
