Nick Holmes

Schmidt Associates has announced the appointment of Nick Holmes as client liaison. With a background in art and architecture, Holmes is a graduate of Centre College and the University of Oregon. Through his work in Louisville, Kentucky, he served as the lead designer for the new entry to the Frazier History Museum. This project seamlessly integrates into the Louisville Historic District’s fabric, highlighting his ability to address complex design challenges with elegant solutions and an eye on accessibility. As a client liaison,  Holmes is set to enhance the firm’s outreach and project development across the Midwest, focusing on K-12 and higher education facilities.

“I am thrilled to be part of the Schmidt Associates Business Development team,” Holmes said. “I started my career teaching environmental education through Bluegrass Greensource, which inspired me to attend architecture school. Years later, I am still energized by the talent and creativity of people and the ambition of clients who want to develop meaningful spaces. I hope to serve as a connector of these groups to facilitate educational projects that enhance local communities.”

In addition to his professional achievements, Holmes is the vice president of the Board of Directors for Down Syndrome of Louisville, a position he is enthusiastic about as the father of a child with Down syndrome. For the organization, he has championed long-term planning and facilities work and currently chairs the education and advocacy committee where he is focused on educating down syndrome members and the greater community. He also helps to promote the Kindness Warrior Training program that emphasizes mutual respect, empathy, and kindness with a goal of fostering a more inclusive mindset.
