Georgia Southern Campus Redevelopment Moves Forward

STATESBORO, Ga.—Developer CCI Real Estate is working with designer Poole & Poole Architecture and general contractor True North Companies on a $24-million redevelopment of a nearly 2-acre parcel on the Georgia Southern University campus. The project is being undertaken in partnerships with the Baptist College Ministries (BCM) and will likely be completed next spring.
CCI is pushing to create a space that will help BCM’s ministry goals, while simultaneously increasing commercial and residential choices for students. Accordingly, the redevelopment will entail a multi-story project that will offer retail, rental properties, as well as space for other uses by both faculty and students.
“CCI is committed to creating a development that will resonate well with students, visitors, faculty and community members alike, where people can come together and continue the ministry and goodwill that BCM has woven into the fabric of the school’s campus,” said Jeff Warwick, CCI’s CEO. “BCM’s mission and values will be at the forefront of our planning and execution for this project.
“We thank the Statesboro city officials, residents and Georgia Southern representatives that voted to move this vision forward, as we usher in this monumental new chapter in BCM’s impact in the community.”
CCI sought a zoning change to build the larger space so that it could be multifunctional as both residential and commercial.
“We will soon announce more details on this project, which will create a purposeful, community-driven destination where people can gather, dine and live,” added Warwick.
